Arnold Classic 2002

"The Best Fitness Show in the USA"

We got to the Arnold Classic at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. We again lucked into a parking space about a 1/4 mile from the Arnold. The door that we entered just happened to be the main entry to the show, the day was going great! Upon entry we paid our $10.00 to access the Expo, the place was packed. We walked around from booth to booth, and saw the latest in rip off supplements. After getting fed a bunch of BS we made are way to the main stage for the bench press competition. After fifteen minutes of standing the competition finally started. The woman took the stage first, along with the lightweights, and Josh Ward. This group by far was the most impressive. The heavyweights with the exception of Scott Mendelson did not show up to lift. The majority of them bombed out or received an injury.

Why go to the Arnold Classic?

As far as bench pressers are concerned the bench press competition at the Arnold Classic is the pinnacle. The audience is the largest of any powerlifting competition numbering nearly ten thousand. I enjoyed the show, and will be there again next year. I took some close-up pictures of Arnold, and got to see some great benchers. If you have never been to the Arnold Classic in Columbus, Ohio, you are missing out on an exceptional display of a wide variety of talents.
